25th Anniversary in Vegas Photo Album -- Page Eight

S-A-T-U-R D-A-Y Night! S-A-T-U-R D-A-Y Night!

RHPS Viva Las Vegas!! [ Page One | Page Two | Page Three | Page Four | Page Five | Page Six | Page Seven | Page Eight | Page Nine | Page Ten ]

These photos were taken at the convention for the 25th Anniversary of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in October 2000. Some were taken on my camera (usually by me), a few were taken by Kristin Howe on a couple of disposable cameras, and the rest were taken on Jeff Baker's new digital camera. Page Ten has frames captured from VH-1's coverage of the Con. As always, I suck at remembering names and placing them to faces; so if any captions need to be added or corrected, just email me. (These pages were designed under 1024x768 resolution.)

Getting ready for the VH-1 Celebrity Karaoke taping at The Joint. That's Lou Adler on the left...

Kristen Cooley and Todd Douglass (Castle Transylvanians).

I apologize for the low quality of the karaoke shots -- but I had to turn my flash off, and I only had 400 speed film in my camera (the best I saw when I went shopping for more film. I normally use 800 for Rocky events). Trying to shoot over and around idiots didn't help. At least we'll see them all clearly when we see the show on VH-1...

VH-1's Celebrity Karaoke, from left to right: The MC was Ashton Kutcher (Kelso on That 70's Show), dressed as the Criminologist. Bijou Phillips (musical artist, the girl in Sublime's "Wrong Way" video) sang the entire "Time Warp" dressed as Columbia. Eric McCormack (from Will & Grace) did a great rendition of "Sweet Transvestite".

VH-1's Celebrity Karaoke, from left to right: Rashida Jones (Quincy Jones daughter, Boston Public) sang the "Charles Atlas Song" in a green lab coat. Wallace Langdon (Larry Sanders Show) sang "Hot Patootie" dressed as Eddie. Amber Benson (Tara of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer) sang "Touch-a Touch-a Touch Me" in her Janet undies.

VH-1's Celebrity Karaoke, from left to right: Anthony Stewart Head (Giles of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, and one of the great Frank-N-Furters of the stage) got the best audience reaction to "Planet Schmanet/Hot Dog") -- in fact, he sang it twice (to great applause and chants of "We want more Head! Give us Head!") Elisa Donovan (Clueless) sang all four parts of "Rose Tint My World". Eric McCormack (Free Enterprise) returned for "I'm Coming Home".

LEFT: Richard O'Brien, Pat Quinn, and Little Nell (Riff Raff, Magenta, and Columbia from The Rocky Horror Picture Show -- duh!) ended the VH-1 show with a performance of "The Time Warp".
CENTER: Not many people obeyed the ban on photography...
RIGHT: This is the Chair Bitch (in the hideous hat) and the Tall Motherfucker (in the snot green shirt) who insisted on standing on their chairs, jumping up and down, waving their arms, leaning back and forth, and just generally doing anything and everything they possibly could to keep everyone behind them from seeing or enjoying the karaoke show... Whoever you are, wherever you are, FUCK YOU from everyone who was stuck behind you!!!

Sal in a tie (for the first time in his life, allegedly) and his new cape (the old one was auctioned off for $625 -- and no, I didn't bid on it).

Dori Hartley (the original shadowcast Frank-N-Furter) belts out a number, accompanied by the five Frank finalists...

    It's Pat!

    Nell makes a grand entrance...

    The man himself, Richard O'Brien

A couple of the people who wasted everybody's time during the Q&A session, by asking for autographs, elbow sex, and the like... Sal then brings out Tony Head as an additional celebrity costume contest judge. Apparently they were all (including Head himself) surprised at the enthusiastic audience response he got (Head had remarked earlier that "only one or two hardcore fans will remember I played Frank, the rest will just recognize me from Buffy.")

The judges for the costume contest finalists, from left to right: Dori Hartley, Anthony Stewart Head, Patricia Quinn, Little Nell Campbell, and Richard O'Brien.

Castle Transylvanian Todd Douglass (the winning Rocky), is unwrapped by Pat and Nell(!!!) as ASH and Ritz look on... Ritz then gave Todd an unsolicited autograph on his back.

Ritz receives an award, then presents one to Megan Tabor
