Sunday night, we saw Cirque du Soleil at the Mirage. Very
impressive; but again, I wasn't able to take any photos. But during the
day on Sunday:
The inside of the Luxor. Everything in Vegas is done to such an
extreme, and on such a large scale...
Several times a day, in front of Treasure Island, there's a naval battle
re-enactment in the harbor...
Pirates are loading their booty about their ship when a British warship finds
them... There is a brief battle with a lot of explosions, fire, and people
being hurled into the water...
But the pirates win (of course, this is Vegas) and the British captain goes
down with his ship... (He has an air tank, because he's standing on the deck
waving when the ship comes back up five minutes later to get in position for
the next show!)
Monday night, we flew out from the Vegas airport. We weren't surprised to see
the airport full of slot machines, or to see a Margarita bar at the back of
the Taco Bell in the airport; but the winner of the "We're not in Kansas
anymore" prize was the special receptacle for used needles in the men's room...
We arrived back at BWI airport Tuesday morning, and I went straight
in to work. Everyone else had been smart enough to take that day off from
work, too...
