This is my face and arms turned into a Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference. I made this one in anticipation of the release of the movie.
A new icon with which to face the endless onslaught of LiveJournal drama. This is for those of you who have spent the last few years wondering, "Why hasn't allah_sulu made an icon with the Hammer Dance yet?"
I realized, with the impending release of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, that I really ought to have a Star Wars-reference icon. However, I didn't want it to be fanboyish, or related to the so far abyssmal prequels, so I went with Jabba the Hutt. The pictures all came from the first page or two of a Google image search, and the text is a parody of The Llama Song. The duck, of course, is Howard the Duck, chosen for the George Lucas connection.
What could possibly be snarkier than a snarky penguin? I mean, really? (This is a modified panel from the webcomic Housd.)
They make every other type of flavored vodka, why not a bacon-flavored variety? This one's for cmndrcuddles and the lunatics fine people at bacon_dotcom.
A random excerpt from the random webcomic Girly. I made it for die7fox, who celebrates "Buttplug-Free Fridays".
This is cmndrcuddles holding up a bottle of Absolut Peppar Vodka at a Memorial Day Party. She said that a bartender photo of her was taken just for me because she was holding vodka, so I felt I had to iconize it for her. The picture was taken by aimeegomeow.
This is a picture of my son Richard (at 4½ months old) in his tuxedo at The Rocky Horror Picture Show, being held by bwaybeauty90210.
This is "Little Nell" Campbell (a.k.a. Columbia from The Rocky Horror Picture Show) dancing. Her fan club, many years ago, released a flipbook to its members of her dancing; pictures from the flipbook appear on the back side of the sleeve to her Fever single. (I own the single, autographed.) I scanned the back side of the sleeve several years ago, cut out each separate image, and ran them together as an animated GIF (Larger size ere.) I recently shrunk it down to LiveJournal icon size.
techempage asked for an "I've got a golden ticket!" icon. I used one of his icons (the spellcasting mage) as a base, and had him summoning a golden ticket. I used this icon around the time the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie came out.
A confused android from the original Star Trek series episode "I, Mudd". Everything I say is a lie. I'm lying right now.
This is a picture of someone with an anime character drawn on her in body paint. I don't know who the character is, where the picture came from, or what the dialog says…
This is a picture of my son, dressed as Jack Jack from The Incredibles. My wife rich_teaboy made this costume; it's a red sleeper, with the symbol, black cuffs, and boots (not shown) painted on. The gold belt has been painted on a small black pair of undies. The mask is off-kilter because it's not attached and he was moving his head. Let us know when we've gone too far…
Stolen and resized from a Fark.com photoshop.
This is the anime version of Mojo Jojo, from the teaser for the Powerpuff Girls Z TV series being developed for Japanese television.
Patricia Quinn (Magenta, The Rocky Horror Picture Show) as caricatured in an Avenging Simian RockyCon cartoon (episode 5). These cartoons were a big hit at the Cirque Du Rockeil convention in Las Vegas (July 2005).
A parody of the previous icon, which I whipped up using an image of tugena13.
My son Richard playing with his toes in an airport in Phoenix, on our way to the Cirque Du Rockeil convention.
The picture used in this icon was me shouting "San Dimas High School football rules!" at the Presidential podium in Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum at the Venetian hotel/casino in Las Vegas. I overlaid it with an animated GIF; it looks like fireworks are spewing out from my armpit!
The first two frames are images of the crew and spaceship from the cancelled TV series Firefly. This icon was made in anticipation of the release of Serenity, a movie which follows the series. The slogan "Serenity now!" comes from Seinfeld, and was shouted by Jerry Stiller's character Frank Constanza.
This is the Vodkaling, which I made in the style of prodigy69's Underlings.
This one is a parody of an image with a crying child being told that she can't have a pony; it features gwiii being told that he can't have a monkey.
This icon answers the immortal question, "What do you get when you cross Pat Benatar with Battlestar Galactica?" It's Pat from the "Love is a Battlefield" video, animated, with a couple of old-school Cylons in the background. I should probably be very ashamed of myself for this one. (I went back later and added the animated red eyes to the Cylons.)
This one is from Mystery Science Theater 3000. DEEP HURTING!
Why do I keep making icons referring to gwiii? Because he responds by making icons like this one. Another parody of The Llama Song; this one features a variety of pictures of me (and my son Richard, as the "Little Allah"). If you ever wanted to see me as Elvis, a Vampire, and Arnold "Judas" Rimmer (with Mister Flibble); then this is the icon for you!
This is South Park-style allah_sulu in an Orgazmo costume (the movie was made by the creators of South Park) with the theme song (best superhero theme song evar) quoted above. The background is artwork from the Orgazmo soundtrack.
This icon was made from a Japanese commercial, which for some reason involves a Little Red Riding Hood-esque girl encountering a giant tanuki in the woods. (The tanuki is a "raccoon dog" native to Japan, and it is generally portrayed as having large testicles.)
I made this icon from the cover of a Love Hina graphic novel; I only borrowed it from the library in the first place because all of the characters were dressed in Santa outfits and Suu-chan even had wings to go with them. It's not often I find an image like that requiring no work on my part to make into an allah_sulu cliché. Still, since this is a vastly overrated manga/anime series, and one of my personal least favorites, I had to do something with it. Highlight the icon (or display it on a non-white background) to see a third word under "LOVE HINA"...
I made this one for luvrentboy. He's a member of the fullbodycast Rocky Horror cast, and does a performance which involves him being dressed and made up on one side as Columbia, and on the other side as Eddie. I made the separate character images first, before combining them, because I thought I could create better source images than the few South Park-style Eddie and Columbia icons which I'd already seen in use – not because I thought I could necessarily do a better job than they did, but because the ones I'd seen were old and done on the old generator, and I made mine with the South Park Studio v2.
This one's a bit trippy. I took one of my old South Park-style icons and used Paint Shop PRO to highlight all of the edges. I then made the edges transparent, and pasted it over one of the more annoying flashy GIFs I've found. I also toned down some of the colors, and made the background transparent.
After I made the blinkie icon above, j_brew asked me to make a blinkie out of an icon of his cat, bumblebee_dude.
I wanted to make a new "Scary" icon, and tried to think of something scarier than William Shatner singing. Surprisingly, it took me no time at all to think of someone that fit the bill...
This is my son Richard meeting Sophie (a.k.a. babytaet, daughter of thetaet) at the National Zoo in Washington, DC. They hit it off quite well.
This one was made by request. Someone wanted me to combine two common LJ icons: the guy in the stormtrooper costume pelvic-thrusting in the parking lot, and the domo-kun violating some Weetabix. This is the result, Weetabix being violated by a stormtrooper. (Isn't he a little short to be a stormtrooper?)
I made this one on September 19, 2005, for Talk Like A Pirate Day. The source picture is about a decade old, and here's the story that goes with it: I was hanging around with a few friends on a weekend, and we were very bored. Finally, someone suggested we go hang out at the mall and look for something interesting to do. We decided that we should "dress up" before going out, so I dressed up as a pirate; fake tattoo and toy parrot and everything. I forget how the others dressed. Once properly accoutred, we went to the mall. We were still bored, but the people around us seemed interested. And nervous.
Another icon made with Frank, the LiveJournal goat – it's a reference to the Kitty Cat Dance.
Another icon for mocking the endless drama that is LiveJournal. The background is a generic LJ base that I'd already created for a previous icon. The dancing Numfar is from Angel, a cameo by creator Joss Whedon – he's seen in the background when Lorne returns to his demonic family in their home dimension, doing the Dance of Joy and the Dance of Shame.
This is the Harlequin Demon from The Nightmare Before Christmas, made by request for ladycrim. I used a picture of a plastic toy and animated the head, and then used some scenery from the movie (a graveyard) for the background.
This icon was made with the Gaea Dream Creator. I wanted the background to be a bar or saloon from an anime series (there are certainly enough of them with scenes occurring in bars), but a Google image search was disappointing (and downright disturbing) so I used the cursed springs at Jusenkyo (from Ranma ½) instead. I chose the pants with a fire design to go along with my general FWOOSH motif.
This icon was made with the Otaku Avatar Maker. The Japanese symbol on the shirt (nani) means "What?" (the closest I can get to "HUH?") – I put that in over the kanji that was already in the image, which I couldn't read. The Santa hat is from the South Park Studio.
This icon was made with the Picture Diary Maker, an icon generator that lets you place multiple small people into a single icon. The people are supposed to represent myself, my wife rich_teaboy, and our son Richard. (The wings I copied from the Otaku Avatar Maker, and the hat I had to modify – it came with a beard and bushy eyebrows.)
This one is a Yahoo! avatar with a King of the Hill background.
My wife made this one; it's a Rocky Horror Picture Show icon done in the style of the Potter Puppet Pals.
I made this one for Halloween 2005 with this Carve The Halloween Pumpkin site.
I made this from a short video clip; I have no idea what anime it's from nor why this kid has grown a headful of breasts.
Mad-Eye Moody turning Draco Malfoy into a ferret, from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. "Teaching," of course, is Moody's one-word answer when Professor McGonagall asks him what he's doing…
This was an idea that I had for a long time before I finally got around to doing it. I created an iPod ad from Faye Valentine's clip in the opening of Cowboy Bebop.
I made this icon for hellodali after she complimented my Kenya-style icons. The face is hers, ganked from one of her icons; and the writing on her torso is ΛΨΦ (Lambda Psi Phi), her Rocky Horror Picture Show cast. The background shot is from Rocky Horror; it's a group of Transylvanians doing the "Time Warp" (I made it light and washed-out to keep it from distracting too much from the animation in the foreground).
This one was made by request for drama_d11.
Given how much my wife likes penguins, and Richard loves all animals, it was a given that when the Maryland Zoo held a "Breakfast with Santa" for members which included a "Penguin Encounter" that we would have to be there. This is Richard meeting a penguin (and being held back to keep him from trying to pet it). The "O RLY?" caption is, of course, an internet cliché.
