While doing a Google image search on "Spock" for paigedayspring, I found an image of
Spock with the word "HUH?" superimposed over it. All I did to iconize it
was to crop and resize it. Again, this is funny because one of my role-playing journals ( storvik) is a Vulcan. (Take a look at the Storvik Icon Gallery to see those icons.)

This assimilated cat (Sam) was made for bittercat.

shalafi49 requested an assimilated Arby's oven

This FWOOSH icon is from a guest strip for
the webcomic Funny Farm.
This icon is a reference to the anime series Shoujo Kakumei Utena (Revolutionary Girl
Utena), which contains the song "Absolute Destiny Apocalypse".
This is a the "I WANT TO BELIEVE" poster from Fox Mulder's office in The X-Files, with only a
slight modification…
I took one of __tigerlilly's icons, which had an
animated green glow surrounding a figure created in the Portrait Icon Maker. I replaced the glow
with green flames, created by modifying (again) the palette of the animated flames used in my FWOOSH
icons.
I liked the way the flaming icon I made for __tigerlilly looked, so I made my own Portrait Icon Maker avatar and set it
against a background of blue flames. Since my character in the foreground was larger than __tigerlilly's (with the table and
wings), I increased the size of the flames in the background. Also, while __tigerlilly's entire image is on a
white background, allah_sulu and his blue flames are on a
transparent background. (The wings came from the Hello Kitty dressup site, but I changed
them from pink to gray).

Another gwiii icon, when he decided to do his own
parodies of the iPod ads. He started with this one; and you can never go wrong by starting with drinking,
right?

I got the idea for a new Rocky Horror-related icon while thinking about the Super Mario
videogame where each level ends with something like "Sorry, Mario, the princess is not in this castle!" I
did a Google image search for an actual Super Mario
screencap, which is where the castle, flagpole, cloud, and coin came from. I created the Transylvanian
flag and added all of the text. The images of Brad and Janet (with some alteration) came from the
Commodore 64 version of Activision's Rocky Horror video game (circa 1984). I've never played the
C64 version, but I actually have the Apple // version of the game (on the original
5¼" floppy disc). In fact, screen
captures from the Apple // version were possibly the first files I ever uploaded to
the internet (some time in the early/mid 90s); I had to write my own tool to convert Apple // graphics
into a more modern format. I didn't like the way they looked in the icon, however, so I did another Google image search for the somewhat better looking C64 version.

These two icons are both cropped and resized versions of an allah_sulu-esque doll created on the Candybar Doll Maker.
When I saw a larger-sized animated GIF of an audience clapping, it reminded me of the stock footage often
employed in Monty Python's Flying Circus – however, this is not the same footage nor the
same audience. Still, I cropped and resized the image, and then added borders and the caption "And there
was much rejoicing" (a line of marration from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.)

I blame xanman4711 for putting me into a 1980s retro
mindset, with the "Ricky Schroder Picture Show" performance we did before our 2004 Halloween Rocky
Horror floorshow. Anyway, this is me (rare facial hair photo) as Max Headroom, stuttering out the word HUH?
This one was inspired by the disclaimer at the beginning of movie trailers.
This is the much-hated Clippy help mascot thingy from Microsoft Office. The animated shotgun trying to
kill Clippy is from the first-person shooter Doom by id
Software.
This is kyjellico in a parody of the fate of Captain
Christopher Pike from Star Trek's "Menagerie" (an episode created using footage from the original
pre-Kirk Star Trek pilot, "The Cage"). Don't understand? Don't ask, I won't tell.
After the 2004 election, gwiii created an animation called "How Allah Sulu
lost the Election" (my supporters were too drunk to vote, apparently). I shrank it down to icon size.
This icon was created by pouk23 (I found it in samverick's journal). pouk23 got the background from marjun, whose original version says "Don't blame
me, I voted for NADER". I found this icon amusing, after running the allah_sulu / bradwinkle campaign.
After I found the previous icon, it inspired me to make this one. The animated flag GIF comes from 3dflags.com (who must, obviously, have some software to create a waving
flag from a still image. I'd love to be able to play with that software and make my own waving flags).
This icon was made from the 11/19/2004 strip of the webcomic Sinfest.
This bunny is one of the background characters from the "Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me" flash
video. Unlike everybody else who made icons based on this video, I didn't use the bunny
singer – I chose this stocky one since he was wide enough to fit HUH? on his chest, looked more like a drinker (since I made the icon, of course,
about vodka rather than sex), and probably also looks more like me.
These are South Park-style
caricatures which I made of Rosemary Ripley and Sylvester, two characters from the webcomic The Mansion of E. My full-sized source picture was featured
as guest art.

ducttapeavenger was the first person who
claimed to see a resemblence between me and Alfred
Molina, who played Doctor Octopus in Spiderman
2. After he mentioned the resemblence, and posted side-by-side pictures, a number of people
agreed with him.
I found this animated image online, and shrunk it down to build an icon around it. My son wasn't born
yet, but we already knew he'd be a big baby. Since some other people I knew were also expecting babies
around the same time we were, I thought this would be funny…
This icon, and the one that follows, were made for a Fark photoshop
contest. The theme of this one
was: Unlikely scenes from the extended DVD version of "The Return of the King". So, I took an Orc
and dressed him in the Orkan uniform from "Mork and Mindy."
(See above.) My caption for this one was "The theatrical release had the Eye of Sauron. The extended
release had the Mouth of Sauron. Sadly, the Boobs of Sauron are still on the cutting room floor…"
cmndrcuddles posted an angry picture of
herself. I shrunk it down and added the speech bubble.
This is my son Richard, wearing a Santa hat and a HUH? shirt made by his
mother, rich_teaboy (who is holding him). This
picture was taken on 31 December 2004, the day after he was born – before we'd even left the
hospital.
I made this one to use as one of my "scary" icons. It's "Has Been", the new album by William Shatner
(produced by Ben Folds, and featuring such people as Henry Rollins, Joe Jackson, and Aimee Mann). It's
scary, because … it's a William Shatner album. It's also scary because it's actually
good listening. To create this icon, I took the cover picture from Amazon.com and
moved the elements closer together (since most of the cover was empty black space). This let me crop the
picture, so that it didn't have to be shrunken down as far. Shatner's name and the album title weren't
clear enough after resizing, so I made them bigger in relation to the rest of the cover.
This one was a collaborative effort. estherchaya requested a "Domestic Goddess"
icon. I found the source picture, a black and white drawing, with a Google image search. I added some color and shrank it down. cahwyguy pasted estherchaya's face into the drawing. I
wrapped it up by adding her name, and putting a bigger cat into the lower right corner (one of the reasons
why I liked this image for estherchaya was because of the cat, but the
cat wasn't clear after the image had been shrunken down).
This is my son Richard, wearing another HUH? shirt. This one was a present
from ducttapeavenger. It was larger than the
one made by made by his mother, rich_teaboy; so after he outgrew the first
one, he moved into the second one. This picture was taken on 5 February 2005, and he is being held by
forkintheroad.
After the picture for the previous icon was taken, I dug up my HUH? shirt
and two Santa hats to get a father and son picture. Putting wings on both of us would have been way too
much trouble, though…
I created this one for a Fark photoshop contest. The theme of this one was: "Re-imagine"
cartoon characters from your youth for a "fresh, cool and hip" new look. Difficulty: No ninjas or
laser-beam eyes (click here to see the
full-sized version). Clutch Cargo first aired in 1959. Giving new meaning to the term "limited
animation", Clutch Cargo innovated TV animation in a way Hanna-Barbera never dreamed – they
used live action lips superimposed over cartoon drawings that hardly moved. (Conan O'Brien and Weird Al
Yankovic have both made use of this technique.) I updated Clutch by giving him a very famous set of lips:
Patricia Quinn's from the opening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

HuhCorp is a spoof website, parodying buzzword-filled corporate
e-sites (slogan: "We Do Stuff™"). Naturally, I found it intriguing primarily because of its usage
of the word "HUH?"
I made this one from pictures branwynelf took at a Duran Duran
concert. That's her in the foreground, with lines I painted on her face to match the woman in the
Hungry Like The Wolf video. In the background are three shots of Andy Taylor; her favorite band
member, for whom she no doubt is "hungry like the wolf".
This was my first assimilation in some time (if you don't count the non-photoshopped pictures of my son
and I in allah_sulu regalia). It's from the movie
Napoleon Dynamite, thus allowing me to make the bad joke that "it's not always a bad idea to mix
Allah and Dynamite..." The screen capture I used was cut off right at the top of Napoleon's head (through
the top set of lights), so I had to extend it to make room for the Santa hat. Since the t-shirt Napoleon
was wearing actually said "Vote for Pedro", bouncepogo pointed out that I could have used
this icon during the "Vote for Allah Sulu" campaign if only I'd made it sooner.
"Support Japanese Schoolgirl Victims of Tentacle Rape!" This icon was inspired by a joke website about the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus. I saw their pink
tentacle ribbon logo, and immediately had more hentai thoughts. (I could have also made it a
reference to Lovecraft/Cthulhu, I suppose.) I changed the tentacle from pink to green, and added the
text.
This is a picture of my wife, rich_teaboy, dressed as Mephistopheles Smith. It was taken by
midnightmadness at a Rocky Horror
Picture Show convention in Allentown, Pennsylvania, in April, 2000. To this picture I added the
dancing penguins from Mary Poppins (who also show up at the Ink and Paint Club in Who Framed
Roger Rabbit?), because my wife really likes penguins and I'd been meaning to make her a penguin icon
for some time. A larger version of the picture is here; it's a bit rough on the edges, but I
didn't care because I knew that wouldn't be noticeable once I shrunk it down to icon size.
thisismostlyme provided the base picture
for this icon, and asked me to add "Book Whore" in blinking text. This is the second one I made; the
first font I used (a type of script) wasn't as clear as she wanted. This one is in Baskerville Old Face.
This one was created using a new, updated South
Park Studio version 2. The biggest changes to the original, at least as far as they impacted on this
icon, is that the Santa hat is drawn differently, and they have an option for adding customized text to
the t-shirts (for the previous SP-style icons, I had to add the HUH?
afterwards. This icon also has different eyes (which I didn't animate), no sleeves on the t-shirt, and
some hair sticking out from under the hat.
This is a French singer named Alizee, and the source picture I used is an occasional cliché on
Fark.com. I gave her a Santa hat and le doobie, and used the inside of
the University Mall Theater in Fairfax, Virginia, as a background. (The UMT is where transconcubines, my Rocky Horror
cast, currently perform. I used that because Alizee reminds me of dyingwhisper, who's performed there.)
This is yet another iconic exchange with gwiii. If you're using Internet Explorer, you
should be able to reveal the hidden message by highlighting the icon.
This is teppanyaki and his daughter Cassie. I gave
her the wings and Santa hat, and gave her father the doobie and HUH?
t-shirt.
This one doesn't really mean anything, it's just an idea I had that I was able to whip out pretty quickly
(using a Google image search for the source pictures). It's a Magic Eight Ball which gives my trademark response to any question.
I made this icon for gwiii's niece, manda_of_doom. I used a picture of her
from one of her icons, and set it up to look like a couple of cards from Munchkin (by Steve Jackson
Games).
I just felt like doing one of those LJ ad icons, because I've seen several different versions in use by
other people. Unfortunately, theirs are all funnier.
An assimilation of one of the puppets from Team America: World Police. I figured I should do this,
since I've already made several South Park-style icons and Team America: World Police was
made by the same people. I used this around the time the video was released.
"I'm with Hippy Jesus at the cherry blossoms." I made this one by combining three separate images posted
at different times in bouncepogo's journal. French Stewart has his
arm around Jesus (from Godspell), with the cherry blossoms from Washington DC visible in the
background through the chain link fence.
I took my old Kenya-style icon and gave it a Dance Dance Revolution background.
Another old icon updated; I added a South Park-style baby (Ike) to the picture of my wife and I in
South Park-style (to represent our son Richard).
