Allah Sulu's Icon Gallery

Every year, I wear a costume to work on Halloween (usually, I'm the only one). On Halloween 2003, I wore a uniform from the anime Uchuu Senkan Yamato (better known in America as Star Blazers). Note that my hair is still bleached blond at this point. I went back and added the Yamato to the background later.

Another anime icon, this one involves scenes from and a joke about Excel Saga – which I will not even attempt to explain if you haven't seen it.

Another picture of me as allah_sulu. This time, I'm wearing a set of feathery angel wings that I bought for half-price the day after Halloween.

This is an assimilation of one of sexychicken's icons. For the background, I used another one of her icons – the cast of Square Pegs.

This one shouldn't need any explanation.

"My work here is done" is a quote I use frequently on Usenet; I felt it was about time I put it on an icon.

I've also seen different people using a variety of icons based on the "Parental Advisory" stickers found on some CDs; this is my version.

An assimilation of Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I've seen a few people use this image, from the episode "Hush", with various things written on the board in Willow's hands – I thought it only natural to write HUH? there).

Another place I stuck the "HUH?" was on the IE broken image link icon.

A cheesy pun that my wife hates: "Papa Smirnoff".

I created this one while reflecting upon the work ethic during the week between Christmas and New Year's. This is Alfred E. Neuman (from Mad Magazine) with a slightly-altered catchphrase.

Forget about the Office of Homeland Security's ratings… This is all you need to know about times of war and national crisis. Technically, I've never actually used these as icons; but they are the right size if anyone did want to use them that way. I've just used them a couple of times to comment when the threat rating changed (and I felt that there should be some other parody of the system besides the muppets).

This icon is allah_sulu done in Powerpuff Girls style (vodka, Old Spice, and everything nice). I made the Santa hat small, and levitating over the head, to be similar to the Mayor's hat. Note also that the icon reflects my blond-at-the-time hair.

For some twisted monkey logic reason, gwiii objected to the Powerpuff allah_sulu and was inspired to make three of his own Allah Sulu assimilations, which I iconized and captioned. This one was gwiii making me sit in the corner. (gwiii has his own icon gallery page.)

Some of my friends and I were joking about what allah_sulu's evil twin would be like. We decided on bunny ears instead of a Santa hat, demon/bat wings instead of angel/bird wings, and "DUH!" instead of "HUH?" This is a rendering of evil_allah_sulu (the journal was created soon after) made using Micro-Hero Templates.

I made this Quebec license plate (the motto, Je me souviens, means "I remember") after someone asked what exactly do they remember? (You can make your own using the ACME License Plate maker.)

I used this site to make an allah_sulu-esque Hello Kitty icon.

I made this icon based on the classic "Happy Fun Ball" commercial from Saturday Night Live. That was a lot of text to type and paste…

Vash the Stampede, drunk, from the anime Trigun – the Japanese text, from right to left and top to bottom, is "Arasuru" (Allah Sulu), "Huh?", and "God of Vodka".

This is an image I found on a work-safety webpage using a Google image search – apparently VODKA + SMOKING = FWOOSH!!

Seeing the previous icon, die7fox was amused to find that the Japanese had a word for "vodka" – "It probably literally translates to 'happy potato death pleasure extract,' or something," quoth the Benton. I thought that was funny enough that it also deserved to be on an icon – and I actually found Japanese "Banzai" vodka to use for the background.

I made this icon for bradwinkle, a stuffed moose in costume as a character from Hedwig and the Angry Inch. I took the Hedwig logo and changed it to "Moosehed".

This is Farley Flavors from the movie Shock Treatment; a "sequel" of sorts to The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

j_brew announced that he needed someone to make him a new Mountain Dew icon. I made this one, and it won.

"Hypno-Josh" is an icon I made for enderwiggins when he posted an icon of his eyes and commented "At least it's not animated!"

This is me as a monkey, from a picture combining my facial features with the body of a monkey which was created at the Imaginarium in EPCOT.

I had wanted to so something with Frank the Goat, the LJ mascot, for some time (I should probably rephrase that); so when I got the idea to do an "I paid for LJ" icon, it was only natural to include Frank in it. A number of people were using this icon while LJ was having one of its even-worse-service-than-usual phases.

This rather scary icon is my face on a female model's body; part of a larger picture which a couple of friends and I got done at Ocean City, MD, several years ago. I added "I ♥ BOOBS" as a tribute to Sean Connery from SNL's Celebrity Jeopardy sketches.

Captain Oblivious is the partner of Captain Obvious, one of my early icons.
